LIME ORCHARD - AWARD WINNING DESIGN
The Lime Orchard garden design team boasts an unrivalled pool of exceptional design talent, and a number of our designers have been involved in the creation of unique gardens featured on the infamous RHS Show circuit. Here is just a taste of our refreshingly different, award winning design capabilities:
ANNA’S SANCTUARY IN THE SHADE
Combining designer looks with sound environmental practice and a responsible approach to sun protection.
Anna’s Sanctuary in the Shade” took its inspiration from the growing public concern for safety in the sun and the mounting environmental issues associated with climate control and diminishing water supplies. The garden represented an imaginative interpretation of the ultimate shaded outdoor room, incorporating an ingenious rainwater collection system - a highly topical feature given the hosepipe ban restrictions in some parts of the UK.
This dramatic garden received the ultimate accolade at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2006 - by winning a prestigious RHS Gold medal.
SIMON’S GARDEN - WITH ADDED VA VA VOOM!
“Simon’s Garden” represented a courtyard garden based on a recycling theme. The garden sparked significant interest at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2005 due its innovative wine bottle water feature and a table made from a crushed car. The garden boasted an array of contemporary features - including the striking water wall and ultra modern outdoor sound system - and demonstrated a visionary approach to creating a stunning environmentally friendly garden – with no compromise on style. Using an array of recycled materials, the end result represented the ultimate recycling coup balanced with up to the minute designer looks.
Simon’s Garden was awarded an RHS Silver medal.
THE MARSHALLS’ SUSTAINABILITY GARDEN
The Marshalls’ Sustainability Gardens featured as one of the main show garden exhibits at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2007. The garden set out to prove that there is no need to compromise style in the pursuit of an environmentally and ethically aware domestic garden. It was designed to appeal to a new generation of consumers, termed the “conscience consumer” - who place increasing importance on issues relating to climate change, ethical and social values and the economic impact of globalisation. The garden’s striking aesthetic appeal combined with a number of key strategies to encourage a sustainable lifestyle, including the recycling of grey water, the production of solar power, the planting of fruit, vegetables and flowers, and the use of recycled and ethically sourced materials.
The Marshalls’ Sustainability Garden was awarded an RHS Silver medal.
THE MARSHALLS GARDEN THAT KIDS REALLY WANT
This garden was designed by Lime Orchard’s Garden Design Director, Ian Dexter, for Marshalls Plc. The show garden represented the ultimate garden for kids - and was inspired by what children really want. The majority of the play elements within the garden were inspired by ideas put forward by children, including a tree for climbing and a rock stack with openings to create a cave-like chamber, for scrambling over and playing within. The rock stack had water percolating through one of its faces into a shallow pool that was edged with timber rounds to create a stepping stone path. The path led to a timber orb den. The garden also featured a carved stone snake path that wound its way through the garden, with the snake’s head rising above ground level to provide a platform for climbing and jumping.
The Marshalls Garden that Kids Really Want was awarded an RHS Silver medal.
